Advocating for People with I/DD at the 2025 ANCOR Policy Summit and Hill Day

In September, members of Care Design New York's leadership team proudly participated in the 2025 ANCOR Policy Summit and Hill Day in Washington, D.C., joining advocates and leaders from across the country to elevate the voices of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).

Our team had the opportunity to connect directly with key policymakers, including Congressman Dan Manion, a strong disability advocate, and Congressman Paul Tonko, whose district includes many of our members and staff. Both legislators have deep ties to the disability community and remain committed to advancing policies that strengthen services and supports for people with I/DD.

We were also honored to hear from Barbara Merrill, CEO of ANCOR and a longtime champion for disability rights, as well as Mat Sturiale, CEO of Birch Family Services and current President of the Care Design NY Board of Directors.

Events like these are critical in keeping disability services at the forefront of national policy conversations. We’re grateful to stand alongside our partners and fellow advocates in calling for a stronger, more inclusive future for all.
