Individual & Family
Regional Advisory Board
Care Design NY has established a regional advisory board to provide an opportunity for individuals and family members to help steer the development and operation of Care Design NY.
The board includes people in a variety of different living situations (certified home, with family, independent) and from diverse cultural, religious, and ethnic backgrounds. The Advisory Board meet every other month.
Role of the Advisory Board in Care Design NY
The Advisory Board will outline job descriptions for board positions like chairperson and secretary. It will also choose its own members and be responsible for creating and staffing committees as needed.
The key areas of Care Design NY the Advisory Board will influence include:
-
- Hiring, training and evaluating our workforce
- Identifying and establishing quality metrics
- Developing and evaluating systems for communication and information sharing
- Managing community and school outreach
- Addressing regional issues identified
Care Design NY leadership will attend Advisory Board meetings when the agenda warrants their participation, and Advisory Board members may periodically be included in Care Design NY executive staff meetings.
Why our members join the advisory board:
- To help clearly outline the link to managed care
- To work collaboratively with Care Design NY staff in setting goals and evaluating progress
- To work on specific initiatives like staff development and the compilation of comprehensive resources to facilitate the work of Care Managers
- To foster strong relationships between Care Managers and families
- To increase knowledge and demystify all those acronyms
- To help immigrant families with language and social barriers to access to services
- To promote employment after high school
Join An Advisory Board
We are looking for self-advocates and family advocates to join the advisory boards. Anyone in our Care Design NY community is welcome, and encouraged, to participate.
