IDD Advocate Info Session: Protecting Medicaid

Description: Medicaid rate cuts are a serious threat, and it’s up to all of us to fight back. In our virtual IDD Advocate Info Session, we’ll be joined by Carolyn B. Kerr, a Partner at the Brown & Weinraub law firm.

Carolyn will break down what members and families need to know about proposed Medicaid cuts, including: 

• A high-level overview of the federal budget reconciliation process.
• What it means that the House of Representatives has passed the budget reconciliation bill — and, most importantly, what’s next.
• Why it’s critical to keep raising our voices and continue thanking New York State Senators for their support.
• What happens next if the Senate proposes major changes to the bill. 

She’ll also share why personal stories that highlight why Medicaid is critical to you and your family matter. You’ll learn how self-advocates and families can effectively communicate with lawmakers, even those who have already voiced a commitment to protecting Medicaid.
