COVID-19 Vaccine Boosters
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and New York State Department of Health have recommended that individuals who have completed their FDA approved vaccine series get boosted according to this schedule:
- 6 months after completing the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine series, individuals 16 years and older are eligible to receive a booster.
- 6 months after completing the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine series, individuals 18 years and older are eligible to receive a booster.
- 2 months after receiving the Johnson & Johnson single shot vaccine, individuals 18 years and older are eligible to receive a booster.
Coronavirus antibodies in the blood decline in the months following the initial vaccine. Scientific evidence demonstrates that the booster vaccine "dramatically increases" protection against infection and hospitalization.
To schedule an appointment, individuals can visit:
- Booster Doses | COVID-19 Vaccine (ny.gov)
- Text their ZIP code to 438829
- Call either 1-833-NYS-4-VAX or 1-800-232-0233
- Traveling to a vaccination site is not always possible, therefore New York State counties are offering in-home vaccinations. Find your county contact by visiting this webpage: Distribution of the Vaccine | COVID-19 Vaccine (ny.gov)

I am very thankful for the help of my Care Manager, she was able to assist to get me on the wait list at the Center for Disability Services. The shot hurt for a second, but I’m grateful to be safer from the virus!
